I Remember...

I have so many memories of my cousin who I always called Aunt Bernie. There are way too many to share but one particular memory does stand out. I was living in North Carolina and I decided to host Thanksgiving. Bernina was coming and all of her cousins on the Anderson side Who she hadn't seen for a while. I picked Bernie and my dad up, mom was ill and brought them to my home a couple days prior. Bernie caught a bug and became ill enough that I called an ambulance. This was the day before Thanksgiving. I left the frozen turkey in the sink giving dad Explicit instructions to turn it every so often. I spent the next day and a half at the hospital so when my cousins arrived they pretty much had to prepare Thanksgiving dinner. My cousin Alison will never let me forget that she had to mash the potatoes with a mixer that wouldn't turn on. Sorry cuz. When I got home from the hospital with Bernie she immediately went to bed and I enjoyed a very nice Thanksgiving dinner. She was able to get up later and visit with everyone. Along with visiting she also shared her bug. I don't think there were many who didn't get it. I know that Stacy had to pull over several times on their way home so Alison could hang her head out. The kids, small at that time wanted to know why daddy kept stopping the car. That was my aunt Bernie. Always considerate, caring and sharing. I loved her so much and will miss her dearly
