I remember Bob from my first job at GM as a legal secretary in the Patent Department. Better than that, I got to know him first-hand because I worked in the small chemical group within the Patent Department. Bob always had a smile and will be well-remembered for his gentle ways and good sense of humor. He had a wonderful laugh and our group heard it often. He was a very cheerful and friendly man. I loved working in that group and have many fond memories.
Memories
One of my favorite memories of grandpa was his industrious, pragmatic attitude. It was present in everything he did. As a child, I enjoyed visiting him and the Wallaces. Coming from Kentucky, this was often a nice treat where we enjoyed bike rides, swimming, and visiting. One time, while playing an Atari console, the controller itself broke apart. Taking this to grandpa (who I knew could surely fix it), he took it to his workshop in the basement, took it apart, and figured out the problem before piecing it back together. It was as good as new. I was often in awe of grandpa's ingenuity and ability to look at problems in a focused way until they were solved. I loved this perspective from him as it taught me many things when approaching situations in my own life. He is loved and missed dearly.
