I Remember...

I remember all the dinner evenings we spent together. Ernie, Barb, and I. Saturday evenings we will go upstairs to the dining room as we wait, Ernie will order himself a drink and surprise me with a glass of wine. The very first time he did it, I was nervous! I said "Ernie I'm not suppose to drink on the job" He replied " take it, because I brought it, and when u finish, if you want to have another one, I'll have one with you". In addition, Ernie taught me how to make poached eggs, at that time I was only 26, my cooking skills was not the greatest. It was a Sunday morning, the three of us Ernie, Barb, and I always sat in the kitchen to accompany one another for breakfast. I asked them both " what's for breakfast?" Ernie replied " poached eggs and toast, I like mines running, and she (barb) likes her a little over cooked." I said "ok" but was ashamed to tell him I didn't know how to make poached eggs! After google wasn't resolving my frustration and clueless mind, I said "Ernie I don't know how to make poached eggs". He said " how old are u?" I said "26". He replied "you look younger than that, stand right here and I will teach you, so pay attention". He showed me once, after that time he never had to show me again. I will miss Ernie, he was a good man, he had a sense of humor, we always watched his favorite movies together, repeatedly, numerous times! " Pretty Woman, and Band of the brothers. I will miss his interesting stories, and his sarcastic comments he use to make from time to time to his daughters! Rest In Peace Ernie, you'll always remain in a special place in my heart right next to Barb, goodbye for now..... Sincerely, Lekesha Carter
