Mr. Decker LeRoy Screen passed away September 15, 2018 with his beloved wife, Velma, by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born January 25, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan; a son of Decker Thomas and Jaretha (nee Bailey) Screen.  On January 8, 1995 he married Velma Golden in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Mr. Screen proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.  He was an active member of the Covenant Baptist Church serving as the chair of the Fellowship Fund for a number of years.  Mr. Screen was an avid chess player and enjoyed dancing, coin and stamp collecting, and going to the movies.  He also enjoyed traveling extensively with his bride.  Mr. Screen was a devoted family man and enjoyed socializing with his family and bestowing his advice upon them.  Prior to his retirement, he had been employed for 17 years with the Chrysler Corp. and then 30 years with General Motors as a pipefitter.

Mr. Screen was the beloved husband of Velma Golden-Screen for 23 years.  Devoted father of six children; Homer “Rocky” Carson, Mark Carson (Raquel), Stephanie Jordan (Bryan), Lisa Screen (Tony), Cheyenne (Sam) Bullock and Candace (Lowell) Fernander.  Cherished grandfather of Danielle, Taylor, Carson and Aiden. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Denise Golden-Short; and brother, Damon Davis.

Mr. Screen’s visitation will be held on Friday, September 21st from 4pm-8pm at the McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. He will lie in state Saturday, September 22nd at 10am until the time of his Funeral Service 11am at Covenant Baptist Church, 5800 W. Maple Rd., West Bloomfield Twp.  Entombment will take place at Detroit Memorial Park, East, Warren, Michigan.

The family has suggested that floral tributes be sent to the church.
