Therése Marie Roy

June 27, 1925 - May 9, 2021

Therése Marie Roy, age 95 of Farmington Hills, passed away May 9, 2021.

Therése was born on June 27, 1925 in Rouses Point, New York to the late Maurice and Rose Marie Roy. She shared her childhood with 5 other siblings growing up during the Great Depression. Following graduation from high school, Therése pursued a degree in nursing. She dedicated many years as a registered nurse at Champlain Hospital, New York, and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Michigan.

A shining example of “America’s Greatest Generation”, Therése lived through two pandemics, two world wars, and the Great Depression. These difficult years would instill in her the importance of family, faith, and altruism which carried on throughout her lifetime. Her selfless nature spilled over into a love for all animals, especially the feral cat she adopted which gave birth to many kittens shortly after. Therése was an avid gardener and took great pride in her fruit trees. She was also highly active and enjoyed skiing, going on walks, and swimming. One of her greatest accomplishments was swimming across Lake Champlain in New York. Therése was the kindest person you could ever meet. She cared about everyone and never hesitated to give of herself to others.

Therése is survived by her nieces and nephews on the Dudas side of the family, Roy (Miriam) Dudas, Theresa (Gary) McCann, Richard (Mary) Dudas, and Deborah (Anthony) Bollini, and on the Roy side of the family, Jackie, Andrea, Michael, Michelle, Julie, Anthony, Connie, Robert, Andrea, Michael, and Francesca. She is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews. Therése is preceded in death by her siblings, Jacqueline, Loyola, Andree, Francoise, and Louis.

Ms. Roy will lie in state Wednesday, May 12th, 9:30 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Transfiguration, 25225 Code Road, Southfield. She will be laid to rest at St. Catherine Cemetery, 1717 Smith Street, Algonac.
