Sharon M. DeLong, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on August 1, 2021.

Sharon was born the third of eight children, to Dr. Lawrence & Wilma Kroha, on June 9, 1943. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Business Administration from University of Detroit, leaving her job at IBM to marry the love of her life, Michael “Duke” DeLong on December 6, 1969. Sharon then spent the remainder of her life pursuing what she considered her true calling: that of dedicated wife & mother. She was most passionate about Christmas, celebrating birthdays, baking, choosing the perfect card - complete with handwritten notes, for those she loved… and eating ice cream as a meal. Sharon expressed her love best by creating memories, and selflessly caring for those she loved. She is known most for her faith, her pure heart, her quick-witted banter with Michael, and her homemade fried chicken & apple pies.

Sharon is survived by her husband Michael of 53 years, and her four children Michelle DeLong, Lisa (Simon) Bailey, Kayla (Ross) Linton, and Joseph (Claire) DeLong. Her grandchildren Arthur, Charles, Jack, Michael, Henry, Conner, Emma, William, Benjamin, Madeline, Mary and Catherine will remember her most for her hugs and for sneaking them cookies & sugared drinks when they visited. She will be greatly missed by her siblings Marilyn, Kris, Karin, and Tom.

For those who knew Sharon, how lucky you are. Sharon: to your family, you are the place where we all found our home.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of St. Regis Catholic Church, 3695 Lincoln Rd., Bloomfield Hills. A luncheon will be held for those wishing to celebrate her life at the Iroquois Club at 43248 N. Woodward Avenue in Bloomfield Hills, immediately following the Memorial Mass. Floral tributes for Sharon may be sent directly to St. Regis Catholic Church. Or in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
