Anna Vizvárdi Libertiny, 85, of Farmington Hills, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022, at her home.

Born October 19, 1936, in Czegléd, Hungary, Anna was the daughter of the late Dr. István Vizvárdi and Rozália (Nagy) Vizvárdi. She was a refugee of two wars: World War II and the 1956 Hungarian Revolution against the Soviet Union. After living in Great Britain for several years, Anna moved to the United States in the 1960s and became an American citizen in 1976. 

Anna Libertiny was an award-winning engineer, starting her career at the English Electric Company in the United Kingdom and became the first female Engineering Systems Manager at Cooper Standard, formerly The Standard Products Co. She was a long-time member of ASME International in New York and SAE International in Michigan.

Anna loved her Ford Mustang Mach 1, cooking delicious Hungarian food for her extended family, and spoiling her grandchildren. She was an accomplished artist, who liked to paint and draw.   

Anna is survived by her children, Thomas Z. Libertiny and his wife, Susan, and Karen Libertiny Ludden and her husband Tom. Anna was also the beloved grandmother of Andrew and Daniel Ludden. Anna is also survived by her brother Endre Vizvárdi, her sister, Katalin Vizvárdi and her nieces and nephews, Kristof Vizvárdi, Bence Vizvárdi, Endre Vizvárdi, and Rita Vizvárdi, and her grandniece, Lara Vizvárdi. Anna was pre-deceased by her husband of 60 years, Dr. George Z. Libertiny, and her older brother, István Vizvárdi.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, September 28, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at the McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 West 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills, Michigan. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 29, at 10:00 AM at Church of the Transfiguration, 25225 Code Road, Southfield Michigan. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
