Lorraine M. Thomas, age 79 of Farmington Hills, MI passed away February 15, 2023. She was born December 30, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida to Aziz and Lou Lou Saour.

She attended Assumption Catholic Grade School and Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, FL. She graduated from the College of Education at Barry College in Miami, FL as she knew her calling was to help future generations achieve their fullest potential. With her teaching career spanning over a generation, Lorraine dedicated 23 years to teaching Science at St. Michael’s Elementary School in Southfield, MI and 12 years to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School in Farmington, MI. She was an amazing teacher who genuinely cared for each child under her guidance.   

Lorraine enjoyed cooking, traveling the world, staying active, and was an avid gardener. She always looked forward to catching up with her fellow teacher friends when they met for lunch monthly. Faith, family and friends was what Lorraine treasured the most. She cherished her visits to Atlanta, GA and Orlando, FL to visit her sister, brother, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and nieces and nephews. She adored her family, especially her granddaughters, who held a very special place in her heart. Lorraine was always the life of the party, was genuinely kind and generous to everyone she met, and will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.

Lorraine was the beloved wife of the late Michael. Loving mother of Luanne Thomas Ewald and Brian Thomas. Proud grandmother of Margaret and Mollie. Dear sister of Linda (William) Hawkins, Albert Saour, the late George (Gouzine) Saour, and the late Gloria (the late Philip) Nacy. Godmother of Paul Saour and Jason Hawkins. Also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her faithful dog, Coconut.

Visitation for Mrs. Thomas will be held on Thursday, February 23rd, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Service at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. She will lie in state on Friday, February 24th, at 10:00 a.m., until time of her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. She will be laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
