Chrissy Weglowski, age 53 of Ypsilanti, Michigan, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023. Chrissy was born on May 21, 1970 in Columbus, Ohio and grew up with her parents Carl and Susi Waltjen in Whitehall, Ohio, Elmhurst, Illinois, and Ann Arbor, Michigan. She started working as a medical technician at St. Joe’s hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan. While she was working, she attended Washtenaw Community College and graduated in the nursing program and was certified as a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career at the University of Michigan, working in numerous departments. She ultimately found her home at 5C, post-transplant. Chrissy had a passion for nursing and loved her patients. She worked in the nursing field for over thirty years. Chrissy had an outgoing personality and brought joy to everyone she met. Her smile was infectious. Chrissy was the organizer for various social and family events. She loved her family and would do anything for them. She never met a stranger that she did not love as well. While her boys Carson and Zackary Amezcua were in school, Chrissy was the President of the PTO and was the primary fundraiser and organizer for events. She was the real Julie McCoy (The Love Boat) of Estabrook Elementary school. She will be deeply missed by her husband Gregory Weglowski; her children Carson and Zackary Amezcua, stepchildren Alexander and Collin Weglowski, father Carl Waltjen, her brother Richard Waltjen and nephews Jordan and Alex Waltjen and the family’s best friend Marguerite Rysse. She is preceded in death by her mother Susanne (Susi) Waltjen. A memorial gathering for Chrissy will be held on Saturday, December 9th, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of her Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 851 N. Canton Center Rd., Canton.
