Jean Lavonne Cassar, age 74, passed away July 24, 2024. She was born November 6, 1949 in Pontiac, Michigan to Sam and Willetta Terry. After meeting the love of her life at just 17 years old, Jean immediately counted her blessings and began a life of desired devotion to her family. Raising their children in Farmington Hills, Jean and Frank made wonderful memories for all. Jean’s father would join the family on the weekends, helping in and around the home. As the Cassar’s looked forward to their family time together, Jean would happily cook everyone a wonderful breakfast to start the day. She was everything a wife should be. Loving and supportive, a nurturing presence for 25 years until her husband Frank’s sudden and tragic passing in 1994. During those years together, she and Frank opened their home and their hearts to fostering children. Jean continued this after Frank’s passing, as her passion for family only strengthened. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for those whom she cared deeply, and she continually went above and beyond for her cherished children. With a quick wit and the best sense of humor, Jean managed to keep everyone laughing. A bit sarcastic at times, she managed to gain everyone’s attention along with their respect for always telling it like it is. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and proudly admitted it was the Cherokee in her that attributed to her fiery nature and feisty determination. However, it was the gentle side of Jean that truly shined the brightest. She loved cooking for her family and showering them with affection. She was always busy making a quilt or crocheting, a talent passed down from her mother. She enjoyed gardening, especially tomato plants, and there was always something blooming on her balcony. She was also quite an enthusiastic Lions fan, cheering them on with pride. Above all this, she was a dedicated mother and grandmother who will be missed beyond measure by her adoring family. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Frank Sr. Loving mother of Frank Jr. (Kateryna), Tony (Michael), Jeannine, Maria (Abel), Nakeevia and India. Proud grandmother of Vincent (Gabby). Dear sister of Carol (Jim) Jones. Jean was also loved by her precious cats Pickles and the late Snowball. Visitation for Mrs. Cassar will be held on Wednesday, July 31st, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a 6:00 p.m. Rosary Service at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 1st, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
