Kunjunjamma Shajahan

January 8, 1948 - April 20, 2025

In Loving Memory of Kunjunjamma (Kunjumol) Shajahan

On Easter Sunday, April 20th, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., Kunjunjamma Shajahan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 77, with her family by her side. Born on January 8, 1948, in Pulikuttissery, Kottayam District, Kerala, she lived a life rooted in faith, family, and selfless service.

Affectionately known as “Kunjumol,” she was a proud and devoted CCU/ICU nurse whose hands brought healing and whose heart offered comfort to countless patients. She proudly worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital for 31 years, deeply committed to those who served our country. She was not only a caregiver by profession, but by nature.

Her greatest joy was her family. Her husband, was not only her life partner for 49 years, but her best friend. Her “Achacha” was her world. Her daughters will remember their “Mommy” as the most selfless mother, a woman who gave her whole heart to her family every single day. Being an “Amachy” to her grandsons was her pride and joy.

A woman ahead of her time, she was a true trailblazer who challenged the status quo. She was bold, brave, fearless and beautiful in every way. She had a deep passion for music, dance, gardening, sports, nature and above all God. She was a gifted writer of short stories, poems, plays, and songs, and her storytelling spirit left a lasting imprint on her community and culture. A proud Malayalee, she remained deeply involved in the Kerala Club and various cultural events, and was a dedicated Sunday school teacher who brought the light of Christ to every room she entered.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Thycodathu Philip Shajahan, her loving daughters, Nisha and Asha Shajahan, and her adoring grandsons, Saahil and Ayaan. She is also survived by her beloved siblings: Thankamma Emmanuel, Antony Manalel, Leelamma Varghese, Philip Mathai, and Joseph Manalel, their loving spouses and numerous cherished nieces and nephews, who were by her side as she took her last breath.

Despite facing the challenges of Posterior Cortical Atrophy later in life, Kunjunjamma never clouded her optimism or faith. When her vision began to fade, she said with grace and gratitude, “I can walk, I can talk, I have my family to be my eyes.” She never complained.

Kunjunjamma Shajahan lived life in full bloom. She was a pioneer, a prayer warrior, a storyteller, a faithful wife, a nurturing mother, and a grandmother. Her strength, humor, and strong faith will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was a blessing. Her legacy is a treasure.
