Stephen David Carli, age 56, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025. He was born on November 4, 1968 in Allentown, Pennsylvania to George and Irene Carli.

Steve grew up in Allentown, PA and spent his early years at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School. After high school Steve enlisted in the United States Army and served for 8 years as an Ammunitions Specialist stationed in Germany and in Washington State until he was honorably discharged in 1997. After serving in the Army, Steve entered university life at his beloved Penn State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine.

Shortly after college, Steve began a career with Chrysler Financial where he worked for several years. Later Steve met the love of his life, his wife Pia. Steve and Pia relocated for their work and careers until finally making Michigan their home. Steve went back to school and graduated with a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University and was last working for Cox Automotive.

Aside from his love of learning and of history, he had a great talent for restoring vintage things specializing in restoring axes. He had a deep appreciation for American craftsmanship that extended to many more restoration interests and hobbies. Steve was a genuinely good friend and neighbor that many were lucky to have. He befriended and helped everybody. He had an incredible gift for drawing good people around him because of his warmth, resourcefulness and kindness. Steve was the Good Samaritan personified. Steve loved his wife, his family, his friends, his country, his Jeep Wrangler, country music, a good wood fire on clear Michigan nights and his two cats Gertie and Winnie.

Steve is survived by his wife Pia (nee Buenaventura); his sisters Cathy Tompkins, Beth Graboski (Barry), Christine Schultz (David); his brother Michael, a niece, nephews, and several cousins. Steve is preceded in death by his parents George and Irene and his sister Nancy Donohue.

Visitation for Steve will be held on Tuesday, July 8th from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a 6:30 pm Rosary and Eulogy Service at McCabe Funeral Home, 851 N. Canton Center Rd., Canton. He will lie in state on Wednesday, July 9th at 10:30 am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 44800 Warren Rd., Canton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Steve’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

St. Jude was an organization that was near and dear to Steve’s heart.
