James Michael Tomasin passed away on July 12, 2025, in Novi, Michigan, at the age of 77.

Jim is survived by his sons, Andrew (Danni) and Alec (Sara), as well as his grandchildren, Laural, Sean, Kylie, Nicky, Autumn, Alice, and Liam. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Janet, as well as his son Nicholas.

Jim was born in San Diego, California.  He graduated through Point Loma high school, and married Roberta in 1969, with whom he had his 3 sons. Jim achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant in the California National Guard, getting honorably discharged in 1975. He moved with his family to Farmington Hills, Michigan in 1979. Jim worked in several job fields before retiring in 2010, including sales, distribution, building management, and contracting.

Jim loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was a frequent attendant of the Michigan Renaissance Festival and looked forward to enjoying cider and donuts at the Franklin Cider Mill. Jim was very active for decades at First Presbyterian Church in San Diego, leading both youth groups and adult bible studies, and was an active member of Faith Covenant Church in Farmington Hills.

Jim was known for his outgoing character, and his desire to interact and share jokes and stories with everyone around him. Jim had no acquaintances; he treated everyone as friends. And his friends, he treated like family.

A memorial gathering will take place at John Cowley & Sons Irish Tavern in Farmington, at 2pm on Saturday, July 26th.
