Rogelio Pelias Alagon

September 17, 1961 - August 19, 2025

Our dearest Rogelio “Bobot” or “Bob” Alagon, 63, passed away at 8:10pm on the evening of August 19, 2025 in Dearborn, Michigan.

Rogelio was born on September 17, 1961 to his parents Paterno and Sergelina Alagon in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines. Rogelio’s father tragically passed away in early 1967. This resulted in his mother seeking work as an OR Nurse and immigrating to the United States when he was just 10 years old. Rogelio stayed in the Philippines with his grandparents and other siblings to receive his primary, secondary, and college education. Rogelio was a great man of faith and was on a journey towards Catholic priesthood when God placed him on a different path.

Rogelio married Elaine Sarmiento on January 5, 1991. He and Elaine had two children, Valerie and Alexa. Rogelio then immigrated to the United States to support his wife and two children in the Philippines. He moved to Farmington Hills, Michigan, working various jobs then spent the majority of his years working at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. Rogelio served, screened, and ensured the safety of millions of people— passengers and crew. In 2002, Rogelio and Elaine had their third and final daughter, Bianca.

Rogelio spent many years attending his three daughters’ various volleyball tournaments, marching band competitions, and softball double headers. Before his health issues, you would find him reading various fictional war and spy novels, watching NCIS re-runs, singing karaoke, or fixing things around the house. Later on in life, he would be responsible for entertaining his daughters’ cats while their humans were away. Rogelio’s sense of humor, love for music, and quiet intelligence illuminated the world around him.

Rogelio is survived by his wife Elaine and three daughters Valerie, Alexa, and Bianca, and three mischievous cats, Zeta, Oliver, and Baron. He also leaves behind six loving siblings, Lucille (Jeff) Black, Bebet (Wilson)  Rodriguez, Maleeh (John) Switala, Annette (Mario) Uy, Jay Alagon (Runa Antonio) and Egen (John) Tyler and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Rogelio was predeceased by his parents, Paterno and Sergelina Alagon, as well as his beloved cousin Rowena Zamora.

Rogelio was a humble man with a quiet disposition but his love for family, friends, and God gave him the strength to keep going despite all that life threw his way. May we continue to honor him by singing a little more often and laughing a lot more heartily. He will always be in our thoughts and forever in ur hearts.
