Reverend Richard E. Iwick, age 89, passed away on November 11, 2025. He was born on March 31, 1936, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Theresa and Edward Iwick. Growing up, Richard worked for his father’s business, the Guernsey Dairy Company, delivering milk by horse and carriage. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1954, where he met Ann Parker, his high school sweetheart and future wife. The two married on June 24, 1961, and were blessed with one son, David. Richard received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Lawrence College in Appleton, Wisconsin, in 1958. He then went on to study at the General Theological Seminary in New York City, graduating in May 1961. Following his graduation, he was ordained Deacon at Trinity Episcopal Church in Oshkosh on June 16, 1961. Shortly after, on July 1, he was assigned to serve as Vicar at Christ the King Church in Sturgeon Bay and Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Jacksonport. He was ordained to the Priesthood on December 22, 1965. In 1971, Richard moved his family to Ames, Iowa, where he attended graduate school at Iowa State University, pursuing his love of teaching and his goal of becoming a college professor. That dream was realized in 1975 when he accepted a position teaching sociology at Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana. While teaching, he remained active in the Episcopal Church, serving as a part-time associate rector at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ames and later at Trinity Episcopal Church in Anderson. In 1983, feeling called back to full-time ministry, he accepted a position as Rector of Trinity in the Woods Episcopal Church in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where he served faithfully for more than 20 years. After retiring, he continued to offer his gifts as a supply priest throughout the diocese, assisting congregations in need of clergy support. A proud Wisconsin native, Richard was a lifelong and devoted Green Bay Packers fan whose enthusiasm for the team never waned. Even in his final moments, he brought a smile to his family’s faces when his last word was simply “Green,” a nod to his beloved Packers and his anticipation of watching that evening’s game. Richard was an avid reader who enjoyed everything from educational magazines and newspapers to biographies, historical works, and mysteries. He compiled a book of family memoirs, preserving stories from his own life and his family’s history for future generations. He also volunteered for several years as Cub Master for his son David’s Cub Scout pack and remained a strong supporter throughout David’s Scouting journey. Richard had a deep affection for Miniature Schnauzers and Welsh Corgis, and he loved being near the water. He enjoyed traveling, especially to the Sarasota Sands Resort on Lido Key in Sarasota, Florida, where he vacationed with his first wife, Ann, until her passing in May 1995, and later with his second wife, Diana. Richard is survived by his son, David (Jennifer), and grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, and Megan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann; his second wife, Diana; and his granddaughter, Rachel. Visitation for Rev. Iwick will be held Wednesday, November 19th, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity in the Woods Episcopal Church, 26880 La Muera St., Farmington Hills. He will be laid to rest in Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rev. Iwick's name may be directed to Trinity in the Woods Episcopal Church, 26880 La Muera Street, Farmington Hills, MI 48334 or the Michigan Humane Society.
