Kathleen Marie Vallecoccia, aged 82, of West Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025. She was born on December 16, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, to Guy and Leila Rocco.

Kathleen attended All Saints Grade School and High School in Detroit, Michigan, with her sisters, Enille and Josette. She married Richard Nabozny shortly after high school and had two daughters, Kelly and Kim, raising them in Dearborn Heights. She and Richard divorced in the early 70s, and while raising Kelly and Kim, she attended college to earn her associates degree in computer science. Kathi was a pioneer in computer science, quickly rising to become a Senior Vice President in Information Technology for healthcare insurance companies.

She then met the love of her life, Dino Vallecoccia, a renowned opera singer, and married him in 1981. She also gained three stepchildren from Dino, Nina, Dino Jr., and Gianni, resulting in a large, blended family. Kathi and Dino were two peas in a pod throughout the rest of her life, spending many years loving their lives in Naples and Bonita Springs, Florida.

Everyone who knew our mom knew that she was very religious, a strong supporter of the Catholic Church, and devoted much of her time to educating others, bringing some back to the faith, teaching catechism, and trying to convert family and friends. She was a mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, sister, godmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Kathi was very generous and a gentle soul, gifting her time, prayers, and money to those in need, especially supporting many Catholic organizations such as the Blue Army and praying at abortion clinics. She also loved to dance and have fun with family and friends, especially enjoying travel to Italy and pilgrimages throughout Europe, as well as Italian food and watching Dino sing and perform.

Kathi was deeply grateful for her beautiful family and is survived by her husband, Agostino “Dino” Vallecoccia; her children, Kelly Nabozny (Gary Hill), Kim (Richard) Hudson, Nina (Todd) Syme, Dino Vallecoccia, and Gianni (Alicia) Vallecoccia; her grandchildren, Travis Walker, Mathew (Melissa) Syme, Eric (Jessica) Syme, and Christina (Brett) LaFata; and her great grandchildren, Evan and Elianna Rose.

Kathleen will lie in state on Friday, January 9th, at 9:30 a.m., until the time of her Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Rd., Farmington. She will be laid to rest in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Dearborn Heights.

In lieu of memorial donations, the family invites those who wish to do so to have a Catholic Mass offered for the repose of Kathleen’s soul.
