Walter Moskala

March 11, 1954 - January 22, 2026

Walter Joseph Moskala, of West Bloomfield, MI, passed suddenly on January 22, 2026.

Walt was the beloved husband of Josephine, with whom he shared 39 years of marriage, a devoted father to Alyssa, father-in-law to Jeff, and grandfather to adored baby grandson.

Walt was born on March 11, 1954 in Aliquippa, PA. Walt was the son of dear parents Violet and Walter Sr., and part of a large, loving extended Italian and Polish family. Walt’s lifelong admiration of all things automotive led him to study mechanical engineering at Penn State University, and eventually brought him to the Motor City in 1978, where he had a 30-year engineering career at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn and Livonia, MI. He was also a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He met Jo and fell in love on a September weekend in 1981. They married in 1986 and welcomed their daughter in 1989.

Walt took great pride in his two Chevrolet Corvettes, and could be found at many auto enthusiast events, including the Dream Cruise, Corvette Cruise, Detroit Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500, and races in Toronto and Montreal. He also enjoyed spending time traveling the Lake Michigan coastline in West Michigan with his family every summer, visiting casinos, and was an avid music enthusiast and devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Walt cherished time visiting with his extended family including aunts, uncles, and cousins from Pittsburgh, Florida, Texas, Wisconsin, and Rhode Island. Over the years, many memorable moments were had at family reunions, fishing, and holidays.

Walt is survived by his wife Josephine, daughter Alyssa, son-in-law Jeff, and grandson Alfred, as well as brother-in-law Joe, sister-in law Kelly, nieces & nephews Renee (Tom), Melissa (Brent), and Joe (Lorali) and 8 grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Walt was preceded in death by his father Walter Sr., mother Violet, sister Carol, and parents-in-law Lawrence & Frances Cusumano.
