Kathleen Margaret Strettar

April 22, 1941 - March 14, 2026

Kathleen Margaret (Franck) Strettar, 84, passed away at her home on March 14, 2026. Kathy was born in Detroit, MI on April 22, 1941, to the late Mildred (Borgstrom) and Marvin Franck, the youngest of two daughters.

Kathy was an amazing cook and a master Euchre and Bridge player. She enjoyed lending her voice to the Swedish Singers group and spending time at the Swedish Club, and with her many devoted nursing and travel girlfriends. She was the coolest aunt to her nine nieces and nephews, their kiddos, and their kiddos’ kiddos. She taught them to play Euchre and waterski during treasured summers in Bear Lake, MI.

Kathy healed and inspired many through her work as a nurse during her 42-year career at Providence Hospital. She was a woman of faith and studied nursing at the University of Detroit Mercy, and was a member of St. Regis Catholic Church in Birmingham. She led by example and was a strong advocate for the disabled.

Kathy married the love of her life, the late Jack Strettar, on October 3, 1964, and they enjoyed 38 years together. Kathy and Jack both worked nights – he as a police dispatcher and she as a nurse – and together they served the community they were devoted to.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her soulmate husband, Jack, sister, Arlyss (Franck) Greenwood, cousin Carol Swartz, in-laws Arthur and Elsie Strettar, sister-in-law Donna (Strettar) Sheridan, brother-in-law Peter Sheridan, niece Amy Sheridan and grandnephew Andrew Sheridan.

She is survived by her brother-in-law Earl Greenwood, sister-in-law Jeanne Sheridan, godson Matthew Weiz, nieces and nephews Linda (Gordon) Nichols, Michael (Shirley) Sheridan, Timothy (Cynthia) Sheridan, Patrick (Jacqueline) Sheridan, Martha Kelley (Michael Haney), Scott (Alison) Sheridan, Peter (Noreen) Sheridan, Jr., Laura Sheridan, 18 grand nieces and nephews (Russell, Derek, Elizabeth, Lauren, Stephanie, Sandra, Timothy Jr., Emily, Annick, Ian, Meghan, Kevin, Daniel, Fiona, Kathryn, Kristen, Margaret, Hannah) and 13 great grand nieces and nephews (Ethan, Miles, Lidia, Jane, Charles, Henry, Maeve, James, Junot, Adrian, Jackson, Matilda, Kevin).

Kathy’s life will be celebrated by her family on the East Coast when we gather for a Euchrefest, where we will toast her with love and Manhattans.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Kathy at a future date at St. Regis Catholic Church,
3695 Lincoln Rd, Bloomfield Hills, MI. Private burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, MI.

The family would like to thank Alliance for the devoted care they gave Kathy, especially Marguerite and Stacy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Andrew M. Sheridan Scholarship Fund, Saint Mark’s School, 25 Marlborough Road, Southborough, MA 01772, or to an organization of your choice.
