Paul Castillo, age 92, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born June 8, 1933, in Wharton, Texas, he was the son of Jose Castillo and Maria Moreno. As a young boy, Paul moved with his family to Detroit, Michigan, where he later built a long career at Chrysler, working more than thirty years until his retirement. He was a loving father, proud of the strong, loving families his daughters built. Paul is survived by his daughters: Rosann (Juan) Mateo, Debra (Kevin) Ryder, Margarita Garcia, Sylvia (Andrew) Gesell, Diane (Stewart) Rydman, and Judith (Kevin) Grove; eight grandchildren—Jose, Angelina, Michelle, Lauren, Santino, Gabriela, Christiana, and Francesca; seven great-grandchildren—Michael, Ysabella, Noah, Lilyana, Milian, Sofia, and Luca; and six great-great-grandchildren—Arianna, Jaslene, Ysela, Ismael, Camila, and Issac. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Sostenos, Elias, and Esther; his grandson Maximilian; and his great-granddaughter Micaela. In April 1999, Paul married Geneva Minney, with whom he shared more than two decades of companionship until her passing in 2021. He is survived as well by Geneva’s children—William Minney, Steven (Liane) Minney, Michael (Dari) Minney, Denise Minney, and Mark (Michelle) Minney—and ten step-grandchildren. He was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions, cheering faithfully through every season. Paul will be remembered by his kind and humble nature and his unwavering faith. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 10th, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 502 W. Front Street, Monroe, MI 48161.
