Barbara Sennett, age 80 of Farmington Hills, passed away May 23, 2026. She was born October 20, 1945, in Detroit, to John and Jennie Church. From the very start, Barb was a breath of fresh air, with her outgoing and genuine personality. Upon high school graduation, she spent time volunteering as a Candy Striper at a local hospital, happy to help in any way needed all while making everyone feel welcomed. She went on to take a job with Ford Motor Company, where she remained and had a successful career in data entry. On July 23rd, 1977, Barb married Cecil Sennett. Blessed with two children, the family was complete, and Barb remained a devoted wife and mother, as Cecil and her children were her greatest joy. Beyond her immediate family, Barb was deeply dedicated to her faith community, where she offered her time and generous spirit to all. She was active in her church, helping in numerous capacities at St. Clare of Assisi, and then Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Parish. A special ministry she often practiced was singing for the funerals of her fellow parishioners. Always happy, Barb was eager to share her joy with others. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends, with her specialty being the delicious pies she made. Her laughter, often hard to contain, made others laugh with just as much force. The goal was always to hear Barb’s famous snort, and she never disappointed. Raised in Detroit, Barb liked to reminisce about all the good memories she made while growing up. She remembered details that no one else could, recalling exactly when and where each story took place. Although Barb was never one to cut to the chase, her conversations were never dull. And all these things that made Barb who she was are what will be missed the most, and now the cherished memories for all who knew and loved her. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Cecil. Loving mother of John (Amanda) and Jeannine. Proud grandmother of Victoria, Violet, Jerod, Ashley and Justin. Dear sister of the late Col. John Church, Sr., Jacqueline Andrews, and the late Harold Church. Barb will also be missed by many dear nieces, nephews and extended family members. Visitation for Barbara will be held on Friday, May 29th, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with an evening Rosary Service, at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. She will lie in state on Saturday, May 30th, at 9:30 a.m., until the time of her Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Rd., Farmington. Interment will follow in Christian Memorial Gardens West, Rochester Hills. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree in Barb’s honor at The Trees Remember.Barbara Sennett
