William A. Gray

September 3, 1942 - July 14, 2026

William (Bill) Gray of Canton, MI, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on September 3, 1942 to the late John and Margretta (Pence) Gray in Dearborn, MI. He lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Bill began a long and fulfilling career with General Motors, where he worked as an electrician for 46 years. He took great pride in his work and was respected for his skill, reliability, and strong work ethic.

Outside of work, Bill had a lifelong love of cars, music, and Michigan State, but more than anything he cherished the time spent with his family. Whether lending a helping hand, sharing his knowledge, cracking a joke, or simply being present, Bill was the person everyone could count on. He had an incredible ability to fix just about anything, but his greatest gift was the love, patience, and generosity he showed to those around him. He was a kind, humble man whose strength and selflessness will continue to leave a lasting impression on everyone who has known him.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Jeannie; his daughters, Shelly (Brad) Smith and Tracey (Scott) Kosikowski; and his six cherished grandchildren, Kendall, Taylor, Gavin, Devin, Hunter, and Lila, who brought him endless pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Walker; sister-in-law, Marcy Gray; and brother-in-law, Philip Baldridge, along with many nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Gray; sister, Barbara Baldridge; sister and brother-in-law, Esther (Jim) Brown; and brother, Robert Gray.

Bill’s legacy of love, hard work, and compassion will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17th, from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home - Canton Chapel, 851 N Canton Center Rd, Canton Twp, MI 48187. Bill will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Bill.
