John William Stimson passed away in Farmington Hills at the age of 89 on July 15, 2026. He was born on December 13, 1936 to parents Arthur and Marian Stimson (née Rush) in Toronto, Ontario. The Stimsons moved to Oak Park, Michigan when John was a child and he lived in southeast Michigan for the rest of his life.

Those who loved John will remember him as warm, kind, and devoted to his wife and family. After graduating from Lincoln High School in Ferndale in 1956, John earned a bachelor’s in Accounting from Walsh College in Troy in 1964. In 1971, John helped found the water jetting equipment manufacturer NLB Corporation, where he served as CFO and partner until his retirement in 1996. He loved traditional New Orleans-style jazz and traveling with his wife of 62 years, Beryl Stimson (née Culley). Their wonderful adventures together ranged from long walks in Northern Michigan to hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Among their favorite trips were an African safari and an Arctic cruise.

John is survived by his wife; his children, Steve (Stacia) Stimson and Mark (Jennifer) Stimson; and his grandchildren, Robert, Benjamin, Katrina, and Henry Stimson. In addition to his parents Arthur (1987) and Marian (1990), John was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Stimson (1988).

John’s family would like to thank the staff in the oncology and radiation departments at the University of Michigan Hospital and the staff from InHouse Hospice.
