Betty Lee Tell, age 96 of West Bloomfield, MI, passed away on September 20th, 2026 in Matthews, NC.

Born in Charleston, WV to Howard and Ida (Simmons) Dunbar, the family moved from West Virginia to North Carolina, to Louisiana, and Ohio before finally settling in Detroit, MI. Betty had one sister, Barbara, who passed in 1935 after the two girls contracted measles. Betty graduated from MacKenzie High School where she met the love of her life, Robert E. Tell. They married in 1950, and Bob precedes her in death. 

As life members of Plum Hollow Golf Club, Betty and Bob were avid golfers and enjoyed travelling. She was an elder of the Church of Our Savior Presbyterian Church in West Bloomfield and a loyal friend.

Betty was a devoted mother to Judith (Jefferey) Nies, the late Robert E. Jr., and Barbara Tell. Grandmother to Ashley Ponscheck, Carter Nies, Eric Karwacki, Joseph Karwacki and Lindsey Tell. Great grandmother to Lillian and Audrey Ponscheck, Owen Karwacki and Allison Jane Newington.  

Visitation for Betty will be held on Thursday, September 24th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills, MI. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 25th at 11:00 a.m., also at McCabe Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery, West Bloomfield.
