Joyce Ann Arnold

November 15, 1938 - October 6, 2026

Joyce Ann Arnold (née Caughhorn), age 87, of Canton, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026. She was born on November 15, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio to her parents, the late Roy and late Estelle Caughhorn.

Joyce attended and graduated from Scott High School in Toledo in 1956 with her future husband, Larry Arnold, whom she then married in 1959, the day before her 21st birthday. Joyce and Larry were married for 59 years, until his passing in 2019. She also graduated high school with her identical twin sister, Jean Marie Wise (née Caughhorn) , who passed away in 2022. They were inseparable, and dressed alike from their toddler years to their annual birthday pictures together in most recent years. They were also the younger sisters of the late Jack Caughhorn.

Growing up as an avid fisherwoman, Joyce spent many days fishing in Canada with her father and uncles. While fishing from the dock, it was common for her to catch more fish than the men, collectively, who were out all day in their boats. She continued this trend as an avid bass fisherwoman at Murray’s Lake in Ann Arbor, MI, catching many trophy-size bass for over 40 years.

Joyce worked for many years at the former Community Crier newspaper (known affectionately as “Arnie”) and Highland Appliance Corporation in Plymouth, Michigan before retiring in 1990 to spend more time with her children and grandsons. She was also an accomplished artist, bowler, gardener, and handywoman, doing work around the house, such as home repairs, and painting the entire interior of her home. She was a strong woman in many ways, and an inspiration to all who knew her. She especially enjoyed spending quality time with her grandsons, teaching them to fish, draw, and do artwork. She was also a superfan, always proudly attending their athletic and school activities.

Joyce always thought her greatest legacy was her children and grandchildren. She was a very proud and loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Laura Ann (Ed) Wright and Jeffrey Michael (Kellie) Arnold, and her six grandsons, Erik (Kayla) Wright, Brandon Wright, Benjamin Wright, Kyle (Brittany) Arnold, Jason Arnold and Jacob Arnold. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends. Joyce will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation for Joyce will be held on Sunday, October 11, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home - Canton Chapel, 851 N. Canton Center Rd., Canton, MI 48187. Visitation will continue Monday, October 12, at 10:00 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at McCabe Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow the funeral service at Rose’s Restaurant in Canton. Burial will take place in Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, OH 43560 after the luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Joyce's honor.
