To Sriram's family,
I am deeply saddened to learn of Sriram's passing. I pray to the Almighty for peace to the departed soul and strength to his family as they bear this profound loss. Although I never had the opportunity to meet Sriram personally, as an academic of Indian origin, I feel a sense of connection to him and his contributions.
With my deepest condolences,

Hi Saif,
I am saddened and shocked to hear about your sudden passing. For someone who was only 53 years old and presumably in good health, this is shocking. I don't know the cause of death, but I can see from reading these tributes that you were health conscious. I knew you at Godav at IITM, but lost touch after that. Condolences to your mom, wife and daughter. Om Shanthi!!

I had the privilege of knowing Sriram since his days as a doctoral student at Purdue, and later during his time at UConn.
Sriram was kind and a wonderfully positive spirit. He loved teaching and research and radiated joy as a scholar.
Little did I think, when I last spoke with him in Lisbon about his work as Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and the new ideas he was pursuing, that it would be my last conversation with him.
I will always remember his warmth and his smile--and that slightly mischievous wink and smile after a wry joke.

I vividly remember walking into Sriram's office when I came to Ross in 2022 as a visiting Ph.D. student. His interest in getting to know me as a person and in my research interests was very touching. Eventually, we started working on projects together, and I learned a great deal from him; as time went by, he became a mentor to me. When I moved to Dearborn later in 2024, Sriram recommended all his favorite Indian restaurants and was always curious about which ones I had tried and what I thought of them. I will always cherish the evening I spent at his home during Diwali in 2024 with him, his family, and other Ross Ph.D. students. He will always be remembered as a kind, cheerful person who had a positive impact on the lives of everyone around him.

I have struggled to find the words to process Sriram's loss and to honor his legacy. Words fall short.
Sriram made a deep impact on my life and scholarship. He was generous with his time, and always thoughtful and kind. He and I share a passion for expanding access to education. Knowing this, when I visited Michigan a few years ago, he graciously arranged a tour and personally walked me through the state-of-the-art studios for online teaching at Ross. He had an amazing way of bringing our community together that I experienced firsthand when he put together an wonderful group of scholars for the Choice Symposium at INSEAD. And he made people feel SEEN and welcomed.
Last year, when I shared with him my personal news of adopting a baby, he enthusiastically said "this will be an exciting and rewarding phase" -- and now I only wish I knew more about what an amazing father he has been. I am honored that my paths crossed with Sriram and I got to interact with him, and only wish I had had more time. I hope to emulate the values he deeply embraced in his own life.

Sriram was a truly dear friend. I was so fortunate to have our paths overlap during our time at UConn, and we stayed closely connected after he moved to Michigan. I always cherished hearing his updates about his family and sharing the milestones in mine. He was remarkably kind, endlessly generous with his time, and a model of quiet excellence in everything he pursued. I have lost a trusted confidant and a wonderful friend, and I will miss him always.

I've had the privilege of knowing Sriram as a close colleague for nearly 20 years. It's hard to encapsulate someone with such a joie de vivre, encyclopedic knowledge, and abiding love for family and friends, but, if I had to, he was simply... A GOOD GUY. Someone you'd trust in any situation. His heart had a kind of purity to it, even though his thinking was always analytical and sophisticated. And he had a way of making everyone around him want to be a better person. Even writing this, I can hear him. I expect his voice to always be in the back of my mind, with an innocent quip, encouragement, or just laughter.

What a gift it was to know you.
My fellow namesake, dear friend, coauthor, conference roommate, and texting buddy--you brought so much laughter, energy, and optimism into the lives of those around you. From our early AMA job market days and PhD years to our countless conversations about life and the world, I will always treasure the memories we shared.
You touched so many lives in the limited time you had with us. Your friendship, laughter, and spirit will be deeply missed.
Rest in peace, my friend. You will never be forgotten.

It was a privilege to work alongside Sriram at the business school for several years. I grew to respect him immensely, not only for his professional excellence, but for his genuine character. He valued my input, respected my ideas, and went out of his way to champion my role. His kindness, leadership, and spirit will definitely be remembered. He will be missed by the university community. Holding your family and close loved ones in my thoughts during this difficult time.

If you knew saif, u would know what a gem he was! One of the nicest, measured, sane, balanced, cheerful, fit, health conscious, positive, well read and deeply philosophical (after a cupla tounds of single malt), we will miss him dearly. Anecdotes and cherished memories abound, we are trying to relive through them!

I am lucky to have known dear Sriram from his PhD student days when I met him at a doctoral consortium. Sriram was a good soul- kind, ethical, optimistic with a zest for life and an ally to women. Since I am a few years ahead of him in the profession and in life milestones, Sriram kept me updated about various aspects of his life and we exchanged notes- when he met Priya, his moves from Binghamton to UConn and then Michigan, Deeksha's birth and her various milestones, his joy with his research, teaching and his PhD students, his taking on administrative roles at Ross and his various service roles in our profession. In June, he proudly told me in Lisbon that Deeksha was off to college to the same place as my son, we were both excited about this next chapter for the family. I had the good fortune to have what turned out to be my last convo with him- I told him how enormously proud I was of him as a human being and an academic. My heartfelt condolences to Deeksha, Priya and Saroja, may the universe soothe your pain.

I was so saddened to hear of Sriram's passing. I always appreciated his thoughtfulness, warmth, and especially his wonderfully sharp sense of humor. His perfectly timed quips during our conversations often made me laugh, and I once told him that if he ever decided to take up stand-up comedy as a side quest, I would happily be at his first show. I will remember those moments fondly. My deepest condolences to Priya, Deeksha, and all who loved him.

Dear Priya and Deeksha, it is still so hard to believe and accept that Sriram has left us, so suddenly, leaving behind such a void and grief. He was a good friend and great colleague ever since he joined our Marketing group at Ross. He gave all he had to his excellent teaching, impactful research, superb admin contributions to the School, and his wise and energetic participation in our group interactions. It will take us a lot of time and heartache to adjust to this huge loss. We will miss him -- and his ever-present smile -- deeply. May he rest in peace and may your family get the strength to bear this loss.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Dean Sriram long, but I was fortunate to have interacted with him during my time at Ross as part of the MBA Council. I will always remember him as someone who was open and excited for discussion, yet expected you to think critically as part of the rules of engagement. I am very saddened to hear of his passing, we have truly lost a great part of the Michigan Ross culture. My prayers are with his family as they navigate this great loss. Reading his obituary brought a tearful smile, as I'm sure his impact on the lives beyond Ross is just as immeasurable as he was on ours.

Having just completed my time at Ross, I was shocked and extremely saddened to hear this news. Dean Sriram was a gracious man with whom I got to know during my time as a student. We (along with many of my fellows students) had a number of discussions, sometimes challenging, regarding how to improve our program and the student experience. That is what will always stick with me - us sharing a common goal of improving the education of future years' students, a goal that the Dean was laser-focused on and for which I have immense respect.
Words cannot heal this wound, but Dean Sriram's family is in my heart, and I hope I can contribute just a fraction more comfort for them.

It was a huge shock for me to learn of this terrible news. It took me some time to process what had happened and to fully realize that it was true.
Sriram was such a warm person. I first got to know him at a Marketing Science conference when he was at UConn. Although we did not have the opportunity to see each other often, every time we met, he greeted me with a big hug and his characteristic smile. His kindness always made our encounters delightful.
He supported me in many ways professionally, yet he never gave me the opportunity to return his kindness. I am deeply saddened by this tremendous loss and extend my condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and our entire academic community. He will be deeply missed.

It is difficult to process such a sudden loss. Sriram was widely regarded in the field for his research and leadership, but to me, it was the small little things which made him so loveable. He would make conscious effort to organize dinner at every Marketing Science conference. Sriram himself was a picky eater but would ensure others ate well by telling them that they're "a growing boy". He was very generous with his time and genuinely took interest in others' well being. In our last interaction, Sriram shared invaluable insights on how to juggle professional and personal commitments.
Sriram's passing is a great loss not only for Michigan Ross but also for the marketing academic community. My condolences to his family - he will be terribly missed.

I am still in shock that is Sriram is no longer with us. I've known Sriram since his Purdue days--extremely talented, cheerful, fun to hang around. He was one of those people who is instantly likeable. It was a joy to be was his supporter and cheerleader. Professionally, I learned some nuances in structural modeling from him. He was a very thoughtful reviewer. Enjoyed hanging out with him every conference. His fitness focus was infectious. I and the field will miss him dearly. May his soul rest in peace (Atma Shanti)! His family is in my thoughts and prayers.

You always knew that Sriram was in a room -- not because of his voice (although he was not a whisperer), not because of his clothes (although he was always elegantly dressed), and not because of his professional roles (although those tend to command attention), but because of his energy. You could sense it, not just metaphorically. Sriram was passionate about all he did, all he said, all he wrote, and this passion was tangible to anyone who knew him -- certainly to me, after having interacted with him for decades. Thus, his absence will be felt as strongly, again not just metaphorically. Dear Sriram, may your passion accompany you in the path to the heavens.

I still cannot come to terms with the fact that Sriram is not with us. One of the nicest, smartest people I know in the field of marketing, he was also one of the first people I ever spoke to when considering pursuing a PhD in marketing in the US. One of the most focused people I know, whether it was his work or his health or his relationships with people he cared about. This is a great loss to Michigan Ross School of Business, to the academic discipline of marketing, and to everyone whose lives he touched.
My heartfelt condolences to the family, and prayers for the departed soul.
