Gene Ledbetter was one of the most likable fellows I have known. His companionship was ever pleasant and his kindnesses were many. I am gratified to have known him and to have called him my friend.
Memories
I have memories of Gene going back more than thirty years through Motor City Packards. From the moment you met Gene, you were happy with the big, warm smile, the firm friendly handshake, his genuine interest in listening and helping. The world is a better place because Gene Ledbetter lived. We extend our deepest sympathy to Judy and his family and his sudden passing.

Gene was a very special friend. We shared a lot of 'soup' together, and, while sipping that soup, solved all the world's problems many times over.....but our own problems? Well, that's what friends are for, to talk things out and help each other when possible...to be there and help celebrate when life is great, and lend an ear or more when life gets tough. There are 50 plus years of memories with Gene, from the glass company on Schaefer, Packards, Jags, MGs, Hershey, and numerous other car clubs to the present, way too many memories to relate right now, perhaps later, and all of them end up with a smile. He was my favorite story, the man of many talents, a survivor multiple times, always with his own 'ready' story, and the gift to make you smile.... As friends to Gene, we will move forward...that was Gene's way....what a guy...I will truly miss our 'soup' times together...and solving the world's problems.....yes, even 'climate change'.
