Being from Ohio, I remember so fondly when my Jerry would tease those Michiganders, Sue & Del, when our Croquet Club group would go out to dinner. We both loved the humor and cheerfulness of Sue & Del.
Memories
I remember Del taking tremendous pride and attention to detail in anything he did--caring for the lawn, repairing things around the house, snow removal. Did not matter what it was, he had an attention to detail that was top-notch. And those Vette's-first the classic orange C3 and then the more modern version. He always, without fail, sent flowers to his beloved Sue on their Anniversary.
There are so many things I have been recalling since hearing about Del's passing. I knew Del for 35 years. He was my golf partner for 17 of them. What I remember most of those times is the laughter. Anytime we were together we would end up spending the majority of our time laughing. When he tore his achilles tendon playing racquetball I would drive him to and from work each day. I think he thought it was a pain for me do that everyday but I enjoyed every minute of it. I will miss him greatly!
Del was not only my boss at GKN but he was my friend. He was one of a kind and will be missed.
Memories! So many between brother & sister. But one that has stuck in my memory. The boy that I worshipped as a young girl could do no wrong. That is until the day he got stuck watching me while we were riding our bikes, then he and his friend David ditched me and left me lost and crying in Pitcher Woods. The rescue took time but he did come back to rescue his crying sister. Of course laughing the whole time. Loved you anyway.
