M&M had the most infectious smile. There was nobody in the world that I have ever met that could make a room full of sour pusses turn happy. She was a true bright spot in the world. Watching her throw out the first ball at the Tiger's game for her 90th Birthday is a memory I cherish. The world is a darker place without her presence, but heaven is now even brighter with her there. God bless you all during your time or mourning and sadness. However, I am sure hearing so many people speak of her and how loved she was, and still is, will bring you some smiles and a little ray of sunshine.
Memories
Mrs. Colburn as one of my beloved Girl Scout Troop Leaders for many years. We had the best troop ever, doing fun and meaningful activities. My time in Girl Scouts is remembered by me as a very important time in my life, shaping us as young women. My leader, Mrs. Colburn was a big part of that by showing me what it is to be a thoughtful, caring person. She epitomized being a leader, being a woman and being a good citizen.
Sincere condolences to the Colburn family.
that Marge and Scott were at my wedding, in 1983 (I have some photos), and that Marge always remembered the date and sent my husband and me a card, always including a handwritten note. She put quotation marks around a lot of the words ("congratulations," "love")--I think, to give them emphasis. I remember the first year that we didn't get a card from her--not the actual year but the feeling of it, that she must have been fading. I've known the Colburn family since the late '60s, when I met Elizabeth in the dorm where we both lived at University of Michigan. Our lives have woven together in many ways and times since then. So sad to see Marge go.
