I remember Eldon from teaching at Oakland Community College in the Computer Information Systems department (CIS) where I worked as a paraprofessional. Before going into the classroom to teach his students computer programming, Eldon would take a moment to say hi and chat with us. We learned over time about his lengthy career at IBM, his expansive knowledge and experience with hardware and software, his quest to learn about and document his family genealogy, his interest in history, especially the Civil War, and an avid reader of history and fiction type books. When opportunities arose in conversations, he would interject his dry wit. He was a quiet, soft-spoken, gentle giant type family person. I feel honored to have known Eldon. May he rest in peace.
Memories
I remember riding in his corvette, helping him put his color tv together that he got from Heathekit helping him reload shells for his rifle. Playing catch with him when I was young. The last few months I would write or texted him or call him to see how he was doing. We would talk about hunting and he would tell me about his hunting experience out west , I would sent him pictures from Wyoming of elk ,moose, and deer in the back yard. I have a lot of good memories of him and will cherish them forever I will miss him so very much rest in peace Uncle Eldon love you so much for the times we shared together Love Kennard John
