Lucian and I were in the same platoon in Vietnam. When he was wounded, I was in the firing position next to him only a few feet away. Even though he was shot in one foot and had shrapnel in his back, he refused assistance to a Medivac Helicopter. He said something like "I'll walk there on my own." That took a lot of self-determination, but he did it! We joked about it at a Military reunion a few years ago. Currahhee my friend.
