Anna L. Zervos

April 19, 1937 - January 5, 2026

Anna L. Zervos passed away January 5, 2026 at the age of 88.

She was the loving wife of the late Peter for 61 years; devoted mother of Angelo (Katherine), Maria (Edward) Power, and Limperis (Cynthia); cherished grandmother of Alexander (Olivia), Kassiane (Logan Frimodig), Thomas, Liana (Sakis Tsitsipas), Jacob, Maxwell (Sarah), Peter, Matthew, Christopher and Samuel; great-grandmother to Theodore and Amelia. Dear sister of the late Regina Mavromatis (Nick), the late George L. Liadias (the late Frieda), brother-in-law to Gus (Aynna) Zervos, the late John (the late late Maritsa) Zervos, and the late Michael (the late Irene) Zervos. Anna also leaves several beloved nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Anna was born to Limperis and Kalliope Liadis, both natives of Kardamyla, Chios, Greece. Her father immigrated to the United States and later returned to Greece to marry Kalliope and bring her to America. The youngest of three children, Anna grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She experienced the loss of her father at the young age of 17. Anna graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham University) in Pittsburgh.

At a family baptism, Anna was reintroduced to a close family friend, Peter Zervos, whom she had known since childhood. The connection was deep and after just three dates, the couple was engaged to be married. They tied the knot and Anna was on her way to Detroit where the Zervos family had moved. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Detroit Public Schools while Pete finished his education. The newlyweds were blessed with three children: Angelo, Maria and Limperis, and after living in Detroit for some time, the family moved to Southfield to settle down. Anna endured another great loss when her mother, Kalliope, passed away shortly after the birth of Angelo, when Anna was just 25 years old.

Anna always followed her faith, as a young girl and throughout her adult life. She was a founding member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Farmington Hills, acting as Ladies Auxiliary president, Sunday School Superintendent, involved in the Philoptochos and serving the church in many other capacities. Church was the pillar of her life, and she raised her family around that.

Anna and Pete loved to travel together, first with their family and later with Peter and friends to France, Italy, England, Panama, the Caribbean, and other parts of the world. Anna always had a Travel Guide in her hand to point out all the most interesting sites.

Above all, Anna loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother and Yiayia. Her grandchildren will always remember the frequent family gatherings full of laughing, eating and fun with their Yiayia. A teacher at heart, Anna spent countless hours reading, playing games and spending time telling stories to her grandchildren.

Mrs. Zervos’s family will receive friends on Sunday, January 11th, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. Trisagion, at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills. Anna will be laid to rest alongside her beloved Peter in Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, Novi.
